Ancestors Mandala

As I was painting this mandala, I felt like it had something to do with ancestors. Interestingly, today is all Saints day, tomorrow all souls day. It is said that at this time, the veil between the worlds is the thinnest. It's a time when we can ask for help from our dearly departed.
It is about change. Leaves turn and fall. People we love leave this world.
Today, Neptune turns direct on the Day of the Dead. Neptune rules the spiritual realm.
Nearing the end of the painting, I decided to put the astrological symbols as they sit on my chart... all at the bottom (underworld) and put stars above for those I remembered, they who may be out there helping us on this day.
This one is for all my relatives and friends who have gone on before me. I miss you and send love to you... May you all be at peace and having fun... sure a couple of you are rolling your spiritual eyes at me :-)

p.s... planets at the bottom should really read: Venus, then Moon, then Pluto if it were to be accurate :-)

I'm lovin' it, Doreen. It's amazing..especially the shading around the leaves, they look like they're 3D...like I could pick them up and hold them. The colors ae rich and Ancestors is a theme that's found me this week, in my SoulCollage also, especially tonight - and then your Ancestors Mandala..perfect timing.

Thank for the info on All Souls day.. the day when to veil is the thinnest, eh? Wow..I'll be mindful of this...as I would love to hear from my mom and dad..and other loved ones...in a way I've not heard from them before...

blessings..
Cheryl

i am blown away by this one! it's interesting to me about the all saints/all souls day. i've been thinking about my dad so much this week. he passed away in the spring of '04, and this time of year isn't his birthday or anything, so i couldn't figure out why i was missing and thinking about him. i had even moved a picture of him from the living room to the shelf above my computer - sort of as if he was watching over me. thank you for this mandala - really speaks to me.
