Turqoise Tuesday

I love blue - especially turquoise blue. This was easy to find this morning (also notice a lot more yellow). I had to refrain from uploading all the blue... saving it for next time. It also made me a little sad as I was driving to work, noticing the recycle bins on the side of the road -blue and turquoise. Those were the colors, along with copper that I used in my color erratica book - hoping someday it will return... but these are the colors I love. I have a lot of blue in my bathroom. In Feng Shui, it is the area for blue -wisdom and knowledge.

Yellow is Playful

I didn't see a lot of yellow at first. I don't wear yellow and there isn't much of it here inside. I do have some friends who love it :-) It's a nice color for nature, flowers or fruits.
It's not my first choice of color.
As I went outside though, I became quickly aware of it. Lines in the road, signs (caution), lots of flowers. Funny how the eye quickly spots what the mind is looking for.
My brother is a yellow person. He had on a yellow shirt today. He's had a yellow van, yellow car and he just so happened to be looking at the yellow pages...
If I have to do yellow, it's toned down into an ochre.

In the Pink!

I decided to do the color project... more info later.
Sunday is PINK.
This will get me to carry my camera around with me more.

Finding treasure at the bottom of the muck. When I went around the yard taking pictures, I saw one of my painted rocks at the bottom of the pond. Pond is out of order at the moment, with very little water sitting there.
My thoughts on this one is how once we get through some of the muck in life, we can find a little treasure hidden underneath. Clear away the muck: the worries, fears, doubts, guilts. Once we find the still calm within, the treasures begin to appear.

Magic

If the weather is as perfect as it was today and I am surrounded by beauty - I can handle almost anything.
Roaming in the back yard, observing what was growing. It was a good day to just be.

ooh la la....

Painted Kayla's room. It's a cute room - French theme. I am stuck on what to do with the trim. I may take the curlyey cue trim from the bedspread or do the faux molding but adding some pink to it. The trim goes on the white part.

I painted a little more. There are certain areas where I am stuck and so I left it until I know. I got rid of the gastly dragonfly and played around with the deer. I think it needed bigger ears. Added a little chipmunk. What is fun is watching the children find new things. Even the parents point things out that are new.
Monday I finish up the library at HAS, so I made sure to bring my paints home

Painting progress

Yesterday as I was doing some cleaning, I took the two pieces we played with in artclass and placed them on my canvas. Happy accident. I did not know what to do with the canvas after but some background texture on it. I liked playing with the texture, using modeling paste and some other stringy stuff.
In class, the kids used the modeling paste on some scrap foam core pieces and placed mirrors on them.
So, when I placed them on the canvas - Bingo!
I then added some wire, laying it on top connecting the pieces. 5 wires - 5 elements (5 Doreens :-)
5 paths.......
This is still in a process, not sure where it will go.
I took one with a flash and one without.

Mural additions

I eeked out a few pictures before the batteries died. I dropped John off and then I went to paint - 8:30 - 3:30. A good day.
I needed to pull together the background and foreground. Of course I did this backwards, but I have been winging it with this painting. Just adding as I go along. Because of the stairway, I figured I would do the houses on the hill, just like this area. Steep hills. I really wanted to have fun with the houses. The kids are picking out which one they want to live in. Cute.
Next week I have off and will wrap it up. I've gotten carried away with it already...
But that is me and paint. Just love it.

More photos from yesterday. I think I took about 50. The dragon fly was on the walk up to my mom's house. The feathers on the side walk. This is a good way to pull you back from being engrossed in the everyday stuff that distracts you from what life should be about - joy.
Enjoy your day:-)

I love my camera

We live in an amazing world. Whenever you are down, get your camera and go outside. If you can't go outside or you don't have a camera, well then, think about how amazing your body is. Think about it. I woke up the other morning in one of those wonderful moods and was having this feeling of awe that I was here. I mean really. You live in the facinating body. How the heck???
Life is so good :-)

Miksang for Mindfulness

As long as I had to do some errands today, I took the camera with me. I did not paint today (very dark, cloudy day) and needed some paint anyway. More on the other blog as well. This was a very enjoyable exercise :-)

It takes a village...

I decided to do some painting yesterday. I was given the keys to get in and it was nice to paint uninterrupted. I needed to finish the tree by the door using a ladder, so it was perfect. No little kids or parents walking in and out. Played around more with the houses and a requested cat on a wall. I had to rush through the cat because it was late and I was to pick up dinner. I'll have to do some tweeking on Wednesday.
I have been painting in a spontaneous manner, nothing really planned. Need something inbetween the village and wall. One idea that has been repeated is to paint a child fishing in the brook. Fish flying up out of the water. I can see it!!
This has been a really fun project and it's fun to have the kids respond to it and making suggestions. Not sure a dinosaur will fit though, but a lot of the suggestions they make are great and when they see it on the wall, they are so proud. It makes them feel a part of it.
It's just so hard photographing it, because I can't stand back from it. I can only do small sections.
For now...........

Moving up the stairs

After I fill in some plants under the railing, and maybe some more birdhouses, I'll start the other side.
I'm thinking of houses, but cute and whimsical houses with paths and gardens. It's all flowing nicely, but seeing it in this way, on screen, I know what I need to alter. Why I do not see it while I am there is kind of weird to me. But when I see it in the picture, I can see it in a different perspective. Hard photographing it because I can't step back from it except the one part at the entrance. I'll be back painting again on Wednesday.

Reception is postponed a week

Bummer. Tomorrow is supposed to be pretty wild weather-wise. A noreaster with heavy rains and winds 50+ mph. I initally figured we would just go with it but if it really does get as bad as they predict, what's the point of having a party if no one can come.
Better to be safe at home, warm, comfy and dry.
We postponed it until next week. Sunday the 22nd.
See you then :-)
And it can always be viewed during the week.
Now to go clean up my room... just in case of leaks.
